Key Features
- Effective R-value (thermal resistance) of an exterior wall can be reduced by up to 60% due to the parapet transition between wall and roof
- ClimaSpec Structural Thermal Breaks can help attain LEED credits and tax incentives
- Versatile solutions designed for numerous roof penetrations such as roof posts, anchors, and dunnage
- Quick and easy installation with high durability for long-term performance
Parapet and Roof Penetrations Energy Inefficiencies
Unwelcome thermal transfer created by point transmittances such as roof posts, anchors, and dunnage penetrating through the roof insulation line can become significant. Incorrectly insulated parapets also allow for linear transmittance, reducing the R-value (thermal resistance) of the wall by as much as 60%.
These thermal bridges accumulate exponentially the larger the project becomes. Integrating ClimaSpec Structural Thermal Breaks into the connection design reduces the heat transfer through the roof insulation line and wall to roof transitions.
ClimaSpec Structural Thermal Break
Parapet and Roof Penetrations Thermal Break Solution
CLIMASPEC CI
ClimaSpec CI offers innovative structural thermal breaks designed to reduce thermal transmittance. Wall to roof transitions, such as parapets, can be thermally broken by using ClimaSpec CI to separate the parapet wall and internal structure. This creates continuous insulation and reduces linear transmittance through the transition.
ClimaSpec CI significantly reduces thermal energy transfer compared to steel, concrete, and other masonry, reducing the conductive heat flow through the building envelope. Thermal bridging can be reduced at point transmittance connections by separating the main structure of the building from the external base plates using a ClimaSpec CI Thermal Break.
CLIMASPEC TB
ClimaSpec TB provides a versatile thermal break solution for projects requiring additional structural capabilities without affecting the integrity of the building. Connections between the external base plates and the main building structure can be thermally broken using the ClimaSpec TB product.
ClimaSpec products are either custom fabricated in-house to reduce waste or available as flat sheets for on-site fabrication.
THERMAL BREAK DETAILS
Every project is unique, therefore connections need to be treated as such. Our CAD library provides designers with connection details that incorporate ClimaSpec Structural Thermal Breaks to act as a starting point to aid connection design.
